Via intensief contact van kleding, handdoeken en beddengoed kan de mijt ook worden overgedragen. Scabies crustosa wordt tevens aerogeen overgedragen.&nbsp;Iemand is besmettelijk vanaf 1-2 weken na besmetting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De periode van besmetting tot eerste symptomen is meestal 2 tot 6 weken. Gewone (klassieke) scabies veroorzaakt smalle, gekronkelde, iets verheven bruine laesies. Voorkeursplaatsen zijn tussen de vingers, zijkanten en plooien van de handpalm, buigzijde van de pols, strekzijde van de ellebogen, de mediale voetrand, enkel en wreef. Scabies crustosa (norvegica)&nbsp;veroorzaakt huidbeschadigingen met een sterk verdikte hoornlaag (hyperkeratose) en&nbsp;papels en noduli (knobbeltjes) op met name de extremiteiten. Deze vorm van scabies is enorm besmettelijk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Behandeling voor scabies bestaat uit een behandeling met een scabicide middel in combinatie met het wassen en luchten van beddengoed en kleding.
